Teacher's Toolbox

The Teacher's Toolbox is the NEP's unique collection of printable worksheets and activities for educators who subscribe to our program. Our printable worksheets are clear, concise and timeless. They are designed to work in a variety of subjects as well as for individual and group use.

Rhetoric Toolbox - Strategies to help students improve their oral presentation skills.
Writing Toolbox - Strategies to help students hone writing skills.
Reading Toolbox - Strategies to help students hone reading skills. Our current list includes 28 sheets.
Content Literacy Toolbox - Help students decipher subject-specific texts that are heavy in content. Build students' ability to make reading part of the learning process. Our current list includes 12 sheets.
"Connecting Literature and the News," is designed to help students develop the skills to read, discover and understand the themes that resonate in our most admired literary works; to see their relevance in everyday life; and to read stories of all types with a critical eye for the classic literary elements that define good writing.

The workbook focuses on the following literary elements: characterization, setting, plot, theme, tone and point of view. It provides an introductory activity on recognizing literary references in Newsweek stories and a culminating activity that encourages students to dissect a Newsweek story with a critic's eye toward these six literary elements. Each section includes a page of activities designed for pair, group and classroom work; a reproducible activity sheet; and two readings-one each from a piece of classic literature and from the pages of Newsweek.

We will continue to expand our collection, so please check back frequently for new sections. Our current features are only a small part of the complete toolbox. Look for our upcoming worksheet sets, "The Writer's Toolbox," "The Speaker's Toolbox" and more will follow.
